Kiki - So Easy To Forget Remixes - Bpitch Control

Following up "The End Of The World," the slammingly powerful Gothtro workout that announced Kiki's 2004 LP, "Run With Me," to the world at large is no small feat. However, with "So Easy To Forget," it's with the help of Areal Records' current hot thing, Ada, that another classic single is forged. Adding a computerized vocal that, in Ada's hands, adds a previously unheard emotive side, both for Kiki and for the now horrendously overused Mac-in-talk program. The flip side has a remix from Kiki himself, that lets the swirling synths overtake the track in an almost claustrophobic way. - Russ Marshalek

Hardsoul - Committed - Soulfuric Trax

In a just world, this track would be caned by the world's top jocks. However, in the real world, it's still a killer funky house scorcher. Dutch production duo Hardsoul drops another gem for Soulfuric following last year's release featuring Ron Carroll. "Committed" features melodic Rhodes keystrokes laced over a Latin piano loop and a thick bassline. The B-sides, the "Committed to tha 1" Dub deconstructs the Rhodes keys, adds vocals, and filters out the melodies. The Syke n' Sugarstarr Remix punches up the Latin feel of the original and adds some tribal percussion. Ultimately, though, the original mix is where it's at on this single. All in all, it's a solidly funky and quirky house track that's worth picking up. - Sterling McGarvey

Eric Ross - SmackGirl - SonIQuarium

Promising new producer Eric Ross drops a solid tech-house number on up-and-coming label, SonIQuarium. Instead of trying to do too much with the track, Ross instead aims to lock the listener into a dubby, tribal groove. Many subtle rhythmic sounds combine fluidly to provide a cohesive and dancefloor friendly work. A dirty, rolling bassline adds to the edgy, haunting sound of the track. Tight percussive elements are laid against an unmistakable vocal sample from PQM’s “You Are Sleeping.” This is a great one to use when layering sounds and building your set. Keep you ears peeled for several upcoming releases from this label and producer. - Brett Abramson

PC Synergy - Underground Vibe - S-Sens

Florida producers PC Synergy step way outside of their deep house roots with this new release on S-Sens Records. After becoming well known for their laid back grooves, PC Synergy buck the trend by unleashing a nasty, tech-house number. A combination of tough tribal beats and twisted stabs combine wonderfully to create a dirty dance floor destroyer. The vocoded sample of a man saying “music” repeats against a female moan to suck the listeners in and hypnotize them further and further. “Underground Vibe” is one that will work in any open-minded DJ’s sets. Could that be you? Keep an eye out for this promising label in the months to come. - Brett Abramson

Subverter - Appertures - Reverberations

A mechanical drive in the beginning does a good job disguising what the future holds for this track.  "Appertures" quickly dismisses what was anticipated by unleashing a tough bassline and subtle, disco elements.  It teases you throughout with a funky groove, complete with a guitar riff indicative of the 70's/disco era, and then makes you wait till the very end before letting out the clutch.  "Appertures" is sure to make the chart of many seasoned house veterans. - Roberto Torreggiani

Mr. Free - A Personal Difference - Beatfreak

The heavy drums are enough to catch your attention, but couple this with the haunting echoes peppered throughout the track and you have the foundation for a dark, yet grooving, late-night, tribal number.  The breakdown in "A Personal Difference" is a bit random, however, with a sample of an air traffic controller relaying coordinates during a landing. My advice is to mix early to help you get to your final destination. - Roberto Torreggiani

Markie Mark & DJ Garth - The Price - Grayhound

This tech-house cut with a punk-funk bass line and electro hi-hats sticks with you well after the track is over.  The dramatic tone sets the mood for the vocal mix as the lyrics attempt to shed some light on the constant struggles in the Middle East.  For those of you that watch CNN to get your news, the instrumental is where it is at!!! - Roberto Torreggiani

Tony Thomas & Access 58 - People Of The World Unite/Into The Forest - End

End Recordings demonstrates its wonderful versatility with the new release from Tony Thomas & Access 58, along with solid remixes from Jon Carter on the accompanying record. “Into The Forest” is a wonderfully spooky tribal cut that is aptly named. One can easily imagine traveling through an eerie forest as the conga drums and subtle synth effects build in intensity. Collaborating with renowned producer, Tony Thomas, on both original cuts is the French/Portuguese duo, Access 58. With “People Of The World Unite” the tribal sound continues, now layered with an overt chanting. This chant continues over onto the Jon Carter remixes, but here we are treated to more soulful, jazzy undertones. Another quality release from the End camp. - Brett Abramson

Massacio - Ordelle’s Way EP - Reverberations

This new EP from UK label, Reverberations, maintains the standards of proper tech-house for which it has become well-known. All three cuts combine smooth grooves and sweeps with edgy basslines and undertones. Each has a danceability that is undeniable, but avoids the standard house clichés that so many tracks fall into. Watch for these to be played by a wide cross section of DJs that have a forward-thinking mindset. - Brett Abramson

Junior Sanchez - Superincumbent/I Wanna Rock - Cube

Taking his flirtation with 80s rock and dance music to the next step, Junior Sanchez releases two new full-on, balls out rockers on his Cube Recordings label. Needless to say, check your upper lip. Junior's tracks are quite the dirty.

"Superincumbent" kicks off hard with soaring electric guitars and pulsating drum kicks. If someone remixed Hulk Hogan's entrance theme, it would sound pretty damn close to this. Derringer '85 meets Sanchez '03.

On the B-side, "I Wanna Rock" is aggressive, driving, and for lack of a better term, rocking. While not necessarily a peak hour scorcher, it's perfect for the home stretch of a long night to give a crowd one last good boost.

Needless to say, both singles are poised to further the melding of 80s rock with house sensibilities to create quality tunes. They've got a strong peak hour to late in the set feel to them; neither are particularly warm-up tracks. Sanchez's productions pick up exactly where Basement Jaxx's "Where's Your Head At?" left off, and they aim to juice the final bits of strength from a crowd. - Sterling McGarvey

E-Funk feat. Donica Thorton - Shout - Subliminal

Subliminal knows electro carnival house like I know the palm of my left hand. Penetrating deep bass-kicks, ultra catchy, vocal hooks, and instantly recognizable lyrics are what make this pretty little piece of vinyl lovable. Latanza Waters? Yup. Pure throb-club party house with enough of the vocal spirit and edge to plug into your harder house and tech sets. The Dub on the flip is a booming party rocker, a bass-heavy affair with some filtered and tribal elements. - Dennis Sebayan

Chris Brann pres Delilah - B Strong 4 Me (Disc 1) - Yoshitoshi

On the re-mix duties, Migs puts out a solid slab of tripped-out West Coast styled deep house with a slight funky, deep disco vibe on his dub. The original makes good use of the full on and completely audible vocal. Those who have heard his recent releases know that Migs holds a penchant for combining live instruments, vocalists and funky acid electronics to devastating effect. This release is no different. Funky, squelcher acid-basslines put some proper and necessary thump-thump into the mix. Flip for Envy's Deviation mix-standard deep Bedrock-esque vocal prog. Cool ambient, big room breakdown. - Dennis Sebayan

6400 Crew - Brother Hand Remixes - Low Pressings

Low Pressings delivers another quality release. While the majority of recent releases have been on the tribal-tech kick, this time the Low Pressings camp has gone back their roots by featuring four cuts that are pure, groovy house. The Original Mix of “Brother Hand Remixes is a re-release of a classic Onions, Tony, Dano & Master D track. The on his own, Dano adds a smooth and versatile remix. However, the real gem on this release is the Club Mix on the flip. With an infectiously funked out bassline and a soulful male vocal, this one will get all the heads noddin' and all the feet movin'. - Brett Abramson

Who Da Funk feat. Terra Deva - Sting Me Red - SUBUSA

"Darker excursions here, with Harry "Choo-Choo" Romero vs. Who Da Funk remixes on the Subliminal Records offshoot, SUBUSA. This moody little number will set the tone for tribal tension and is both mesmerizing and eerie. There's a spooky drop, then a wailing diva vocal kicks in to build the energy to its peak. Just wait for the kick to come in—there's a cadence at that point so intense, any dancefloor will go wild. Think Green Velvet's "Flash" and you'll get the picture. " - Dennis Sebayan

Who Da Funk - Shiny Disco Balls - SUBUSA

"Shiny Disco Ball pays homage to the pagan gods of the discotheque, citing drugs, rock & roll, and late night booty calls as the primary elements of a good night out. A sexy, Miss Kiittenesque female vocal calls the shots here. Gritty, filtered disco funk with a womp-womp bassline and some wonderful effects with delayed pads. Very funky, very disco-ey, very, very Subliminal, just a bit more bass heavy. Flip for a fun accappella to mess with. All in all, standard. " - Dennis Sebayan

V/A - Soulful Behavior Part 3 - Defunked

"Defunked, Fellowship's label, has put out a three part series called Soulful Behavior. This release, being the third and last in the series, features John B.'s "Half Now, Half Later" and Carlito's "So Liquid." The A side, "So Liquid," is exactly what it implies: liquid funk d&b magnified. Over-the-top soulful female vocals ("You make me feel so good!"), soaring, melodic basslines and an overall happy and uplifting vibe make this is a perfect example of the extreme side of liquid style. If you've got the balls to play it and the crowd's having it, it'll smash the place up. The flip, "Half Now, Half Later," is the better of the two, though. It contains similar elements, but in a much more reserved amount. Nice funky bassline (for the ladies, of course), reserved drums and a smooth vocal loop of "Love each other." Chill, sensual and tasteful. " - Weatherman

Tribalation - Don't Make Me Wait - Big Chief

"Together Grant Dell and Gareth Oxby present Tribalation and release "Don't Make Me Wait" on the hot domestic label Big Chief. The A-side title track "Don't Make Me Wait" showcases a vocal tribal house mix. At first listen the ever-present female vocal seems to overshadow the musical production of the track. But this track grows on you and would fit well into a very soulful house set. The gem of the release appears on the B-side with "I Don't Care." Although another soulful vocal appears, it is not excessively used and is complimented nicely with a heavier, deeper bass line. After the breakdown, "I Don't Care" takes on even more of a tribal feel that will definitely keep bodies movin.' Overall, the B-side is a more musical track that will fit well into a wider variety of house sets." - Mychal McCurdy

Thick Dick - Insatiable - Sondos

""When the music starts to play... I'm insatiable..."

Taken off of Thick Dick's full length album, Sondos enlists the remix support of Junior Jack, Kid Crème and Dan Berkson to make this double pack a well rounded number. Latanza Waters lends her sexy and soulful Wonderland vocals to this club house monster. The original is deep, uplifting and soulful vocal house. Flip for the S& M (Wilson Santos and Steven Mestre) Remix, which is harder and crunchier, with distorted vocal snippets and driving stabs. Three quarters in and you can spank me anytime with this mix's massive buildup and crescendo. The Junior Jack vs. Kid Crème mix is more dubby and techy, while the Berkson Dub carries that Siesta deep house sound we have grown to love. " - Dennis Sebayan

The Lords of Svek - Unreleased Vol. 3 - Svek

"Man, do I love Svek. It is one of the few labels that I get excited about when any new release appears at the record store. And this one is no exception. With tracks from Joel Mull, J. Dahlback, Chris J., and Forme, dance music is well represented here. All songs are incredible, but the two standout tracks come from Mull and Forme. Joel Mull shows a softer side, with an interesting housey number, sick-ass bassline, very cool percussion, and a little guitar-breakdown near the end that just works nicely. Forme turns out a nice, late-night tech house cut that just won't quit. Find this record. Buy it. Play it loud. " - Adam Smith

Terry Lee Brown, Jr. - Ocean of Joy - Plastic City

"Now this is an amazing remix. California native, Dano, takes the deep tech sound a step forward with his new mix of Terry Lee Brown, Jr.'s "Ocean of Joy." While maintaining the smooth Plastic City sound, Dano adds a unique tribal beat to give the track a little kick. Unlike many deep tech producers, he does not just lull you to sleep with a singular, loopy synth riff; instead, he provides the listener with a lush, complex and evolving sound. The Morgan Page mixes on the flip are decent, but don't stand up to the brilliant Dano Mix. Be sure to look out for this one. " - Brett Abramson

Swingfield - "Sax-O-Matic" - Asteroides EP - No Label Recordings

"If you like horns in your house, then I have the track for you. "Sax-O-Matic" starts off with a bumping tribal beat and has a lengthy intro for those of you who like to ride the mix, but it really doesn't go much further than that. After quite a few phrases, they finally decide to bring in the horns. Although the horns do their job by getting you moving, it doesn't really take off like you hope it would. The horn sample is looped to death, but I will give it this: it is damn catchy. Not many elements in this track, but to spice it up, check out the Jair remix. You may most recently remember Jair from their track, "Shake," which was on Steve Lawler's Dark Drums Vol. 2. This track won't have the crowd jumping up and down, but it will help get them where you want them. "Sax-O-Matic" was produced by Fafo Monteco and was originally released on Hypnotic Records/France." - Roberto Torreggiani

Superstar - Hey Mr. DJ - Swift

"George Pallikaris, a.k.a. G-pal, a.k.a. El Greco puts out a new track, "Hey Mr. DJ," on his Swift label under yet another alias, Superstar. The A-side, "Hey Mr. DJ," blends a tribal sound with a pumping techno style. This track has a dark, funky bass line and is layered with an electronically processed, sinister sounding chant. The chant is in fact a sample of Madonna's "Music," saying, "Hey Mr. DJ. I wanna dance with my baby." The track stays very level and never does anything crazy, and the production is DJ friendly with a long intro and a minimal ending. The B-side "Manual Operation" has a progressive tribal sound that is more reminiscent of previous G-Pal releases. Both quality tracks are worthy of a spot in your record bag." - Mychal McCurdy

Solaris Heights - Midnight - Airtight

"Hooj's sub-label, Airtight, delivers big time with their new release. "Midnight" is a tightly woven deep house cut that, simply put, is funky as hell. Production is top notch on this one, as the sounds are airy and silky smooth. Yet the groove is so infectious that head nodding is an inevitable consequence upon listening. A filtered male vocal is subtly strewn throughout the original and dub mixes, but Solaris Heights is careful not to get too carried away and enter the cheeze zone. This one will fit in well with DJs across the board, from deep house to progressive jocks looking to start the night off right. " - Brett Abramson

Shawnee Taylor vs. Jose Nunez - The Inside - Subliminal

"This record rides on the cusp between gritty filtered disco funk and electrowave. One side is the "Dark 80's Mix" which has a penetrating synth line and relentless high hat patterns. The crossover appeal for this mix is huge because it can fit into a techno house, tech-trance or even hard house set, but overall I didn't think it went anywhere. The flip is where all the excitement is. It starts out all filtered but takes a turn for the better as the electro bassline and vocal comes in. With a carnival mood, a "Blondie" like vocal warns the listener 'You can run, but you can't hide.' " - Dennis Sebayan

Samsara - Looking Glass/Afterthought - Yoshitoshi

"Newcomer Samsara is a medical school student out of Chicago who produces house outside of his hospital residency. With his first release on Yoshitoshi, he offers up two spooky cuts with trippy sweeps, tribal drums and scary sound f/x. 'Looking Glass' is the perfect tune that would work on say, your Halloween or New Year's DJ gig. It features haunting, laughing child snippets and whirring, percolating breathing sounds in the breakdown. The buildup is intense, and features some out of this world alien sweeps and a drum kick that will just blow up the dancefloor. This tune is dark and driving, and will definitely set an ominous mood in your set. 'Afterthought', which is featured on Satoshi Tomiie's Nubreed compilation, is a druggy, minimal stomper with wonderful, panning breathing sounds that will mesmerize the dancefloor. Standard. " - Dennis Sebayan

RPO & Processing - Cause That's Right - Garbage

"Man, this Spanish label will not quit! Mad, tribal funk is always on tap when one of these tracks is dropped on the platter. This new release from Garbage Records does not disappoint, maintaining the quality RPO sound. After a nice, DJ-friendly intro and an echoey breakdown, in comes one of those basslines that will destroy any dancefloor. Funky and driving, tribal and techy, this one has something for everyone. Bet money that DJs like Danny T. and Lawler are dropping this one. You should too! " - Brett Abramson

Rosh - Rooskie Foundry - Beatfreak

"The Spanish label, Beatfreak, has been turning out some really solid tribal house cuts. "Rooskie Foundry" hits you immediately with a nasty bassline that drives throughout the entire track. Subtle female moans float along hypnotic drum loops that will leave you entranced, listening at home or at the club. While both sides are quite similar, the Reconstruction Mix is a personal favorite, with the "more is less" philosophy. Don't be surprised to hear Danny T. or Steve Lawler dropping this one. " - Brett Abramson

Random Factor - Without You - 2020 Vision

"Carl Finlow makes cool dance music. Be it electro or house or something in between, its always cool, and dare I say different. The title track gets remix treatment from Inland Knights and Fred Everything. The Knights mix is quite interesting, with a female vocal saying something about, "Sorry I said I hate you". It doesn't make a lot of sense, but it sounds very good and is a personal favorite. Fred Everything leaves out vocals, except for the oooh-oh-ohing at the end, for a cool dub version that's on the deep side. Nice warm chords throughout make this an enjoyable tune to dance and listen to. " - Adam Smith

Ralphi Rosario & Martin Fry - First Reunion - Metrouble Recordings

"The first release on Metrouble Recordings, founded by Atlanta's very own Brett Long and Roberto Torreggiani, is one to please. Ralphi Rosario and Martin Fry have put together a progressive house track that doesn't really fit into any genre, an equation t" - Damon Fonooni

Primary Sequence - Carnival Dub - Visitor

"Minimal is the word for the "Carnival Dub" on this record. Not in a boring way, but rather as a subtle, deep cut. Echoed vocals overlay a nice, staggered beat and conga stabs. A deep tech line moves in as the track progresses, without falling into the trappings of a typical track in that genre. What's great about "Carnival Dub" is the fact that it does not try to do too much. It knows its place as an early track in a set to build with and set a mood. They can't all be peaktimers! The A-side, "Strange Things Happening," has a classic acid house sound for all you old skoolers. Another solid release from this hot Belgian label. " - Brett Abramson

Porno DJ - The Judgement - Remote Recordings

"The Judgement is a funky little number with a grooving, retro bassline. If you are tired of the "orgasm tracks," the full vocal mix may not suit you, but it is not overdone as in many other songs. If you like a track with a disco sound and some sexy female voice samples that will definitely get people on the floor, then you should definitely put this in your bag. The crowd won't be able to escape that throw-back bassline. For something a little different, flip it over and listen to the Mauve remix, which takes a more trance-house sound. The Mauve remix is a little bit techier and will go over with a crowd that is more in the "know". This remix is good if you are trying to move your set into something deeper. " - Roberto Torreggiani

Piliavin & Zimbardo - Voodoo Juice - Sondos

"Up & coming duo from the UK, Piliavin & Zimbardo, a.k.a. Paul Jackson & Gary Wilson, have recorded for a few different labels since they surfaced early this year. From their first release on, I've been watching them put out hard hitting, heady and fx laden tribal house on their own label, Distraekt Recordings, Honchos, and now Sondos. To top this, promotional group, Hands On Deck, have picked up this duo to handle their bookings and take them to the next level. Not for the faint of heart, "Voodoo Tool" is a hard house monster with plenty of effect washouts and alien-type cat sounds. Flip for a drummy sci-fi house excursion sure to hit hard and move the masses. " - Dennis Sebayan

Paul Woolford - "Only the Wild" / "Without You" - Subliminal Records

"Only the Wild starts out minimal and techy, but then slams into a funky, electro-break. From there, "Only the Wild" takes you on beefy ride, building with excellent, isolated electro-tech elements. A farty sub-bassline kicks in about 1/3 of the way through, making the track so heavy and swingy you can't help but move those hips and bop that head. Definitely one for the gymnasiums or stadium arena, you'll be mixing around with this track for a week. "Without You" starts out as a tribal stormer, with shuffly as heck percussion and proper, deep bass. Vocal snippets reverb in and out of the track, and swirly synths sweep through this tech-houser amidst crisp, clean sounding highs. A funky builder done quite well, file this one under future tech-house. With this and recent releases, Subliminal's definitely got the framework and the filling to carry clubland even further. " - Dennis Sebayan

Paranoid Jack - Dirty Fingernailz - Four01 Recordings

"Bottom Line..."Dirty Fingernailz" is a grooving, tribal track. It has that characteristic Paranoid Jack sound that I have yet to hear any producer come close to touching. The techy effects are coupled with tribal chants that you would only expect to hear from a village deep in the Amazon Jungle. To top it off is a hauntingly beautiful female vocal that only lifts this track into even more untouchable territory. During the break, Paranoid Jack allows us to hear every single element used thus far, piece by piece, before the build starts, and all those delicious ingredients get put back in the pot. We are served a big dose of rocking, tribal madness. Can I have seconds? I have only one word to describe this track: amazing. " - Roberto Torreggiani

Mr. C - Click - Alola

"Tech-house pioneer and newly hitched Mr. C puts out two new tracks, "Click" and "Dizzy Spell," on Alola. Both tracks do a good job of making what seems like a tech-trance transition. This sound is very similar to many of Alola's releases. The A-side, "Click," is a high tempo, very danceable track with a deep tech opening, followed up by a pretty, trance-like melody. The B-side, Dizzy Spell, has a deep, slower tempo and is accompanied by a tech-trance melody as well. Mr. C does a great job blending a deep tech-house vibe with beautiful synth sounds. The result—great, new, deep dance music." - Mychal McCurdy

Marky Starr - Disco Freakin - Big Chief

"Big Chief puts out their ninth release with the debut solo EP form Marky Starr, "Disco Freakin". Marky's original mix stays true to its title, with a deep, funky bassline and synth lines so vintage they sound as if they were taken from an afterdark roller rink. The b-side, Jay's Acid Reflux Mix, is more quality work from the man of the moment, Jay Tripwire. The tempo is upped slightly, the track has deeper drums, and synth sounds are used more sparingly on the remix. The short breakdown turns into a breakbeat, which nicely sets up the even deeper, pumping finish to the track. " - Mychal McCurdy

Marcelo Castelli - Raices - Low Pressings

"Tribal with dark effects is the only way to describe this track. You may have already heard it without even knowing—it appears on Saeed & Palash's most recent Tide compilation on *69. What makes this track so unique is the sound of the Condombe—the traditional drumming of Castelli's native Uruguay. There is not much resting when "Raices" is being played. The drums don't stop, and neither will your feet. " - Roberto Torreggiani

Malachi - Where's the Soap - Stickman

"What's great about Stickman Records is that you don't know what sound to expect as you touch the needle to a new release. This track from Malachi is a perfect example of this fact, as it pushes a deep, new sound, while keeping with the Stickman quality that everyone expects. "Where's the Soap" is a tight, eerie cut that is infectious once you get lost in its groove. Combining a funky bassline, subtle strings, and haunting, techy computer sounds, this track may not blow up a crowd, but instead lock them into a hypnotic strut. " - Brett Abramson

Laranjeiras - I Want You - Subliminal Soul

"Subliminal Soul offers up a deep, sexy house track that is reminiscent of the Naked Music sound, with a bit of the Central Park sound thrown in. This track is complete with congas, whispered female vocals and a bubbly wa wa bassline. The Scarey mix has a nice, tropical island feel. The club mix has a warm sound and a funkier mood due to the pronounced guitars and masculine vocal. Overall this record will bring a smile to your face, and serves as a non-threatening DJ tool for those of you who like to serve it deep and sexy. " - Dennis Sebayan

Kevin Freeman - The Move - Room 4 Recordings

"The Move starts out with a more tribal kick drum line, before the percussion starts to build with a techier edge. A filtered vox sound takes things even further into the tech sound, and then drops out into a softer break. The kick carries through though; great for when you don't want to let them stop. The track comes back in with the vox again and a tight, little electro line. Things drop off quickly, and it's over. Quite a few sounds covered in this track, with enough of a tech-house feel to fall towards my tastes. " - Wes McGee

Kevin Freeman - In the Groove - Room 4 Recordings

"This third release on the Low Pressings sub-label, Room 4, follows on the massive Def-E - "On My Own"/"Isolated Showers". Kevin Freeman, headman for the popular Advance Records label shows us his groovy side with "In the Groove". This track builds on a catchy analogue bassline and a simple vocal, guaranteed to get people moving. The break gives us the bassline alone, slowly adding distortion until the track comes back in heavily with some swirling synths and added percussion. The vocal keeps pushing until a retro organ line carries things back down. Overall, a solid track for those with funkier tastes. " - Wes McGee

KemeticJust - KemeticJust EP - Soco Audio

"Soco Audio branches out from its signature tech-house sound to release the work of two Atlanta based producers known for more of a deep house vibe. Popular local DJs, Kemit and Justin, the duo known as KemeticJust, both produce a solo track and then combine to make "Taking Flight." This collaborative track is great musically, but the soulful vocal doesn't fit as well as they had hoped. On the other hand, both solo tracks, Kemit's "Kemetic Journey" and Justone's "Wondering" are absolute sizzlers. The bassline on "Wondering" will definitely evoke a reaction when it is dropped, and leaves my mouth watering for Soco 005. " - Mychal McCurdy

JT Donaldson - A Room with a Vu/Do Dat - Lowdown Music

"One word describes JT Donaldson: consistency. This is a well-done track, arranged very nicely. A long, DJ-friendly track intro begins; it builds slowly, but not too slowly, adding sounds every 32 beats or so. Deep, lush Fender keys enter, with a minima" - Daniel Gresham

Joshua Collins - New Found Notions EP - Grayhound

"Joshua Collins is a promising artist to watch out for. Recent releases on Prolekult, Aquarius and Hooj Choons, along with this newest one from Grayhound, are securing his standing as a forward thinking house producer. Collins shares Chicago studio space with Mazi, aka Audio Soul Project, and the influence is quite evident on "Without You," the A-side track. A strong kick and spaced-out, atmospheric sounds set this one off in the right direction. As the bassline and clap drop in, you know this is going to be a wicked groove. A soulful vocal is smoothed out by a vocoder-like effect, which surprisingly works. The production is top notch on this one, so pick it up if you are looking for a deep-tech vibe with a great drive. " - Brett Abramson

Jay J & Chris Lum - Roots Roll Call - Vibrant

"New to hit the shelves is the Peace Division remixes of this Jay J & Chris Lum track released at the beginning of 2002. While the original was clear cut deep house, the new vocal and instrumental mixes are much more on the tribal tip. If you were expecting anything outside of the realm of virtually every Peace Division release in the past year or so, don't hold your breath. A slow, bouncey groove slowly builds as each layer of tribal techiness is added. A deep male vocal pays tribute to house music legends of the past, praising the contributions of everyone from Blaze to Cajmere to Tony Humphries. While I am all about giving props, the manner in which this is done on "Roots Roll Call" is reminiscent of way too many other records. The combination of tired sounds and vocals make this a track that may work on the dancefloor, but in no way pushes any new ground. " - Brett Abramson

Hooligan pres. Freak Stylaz - Sip by Sip - Sondos

"4 out of 5 because it's so funny. Sondos releases a slamming hypno-tech-house banger with crunchy beats, twisted, whirling rhythms and a really funny vocal. You wouldn't think the vocal was funny because of the seemingly serious nature of the track, but if you listen closely you'll hear the industrial tinged, dark voice stating, "Sip by sip, she's getting prettier." Truly a tune for the club dancefloors, just don't tell your date what the vocal says! Flip for a slamming dub with harder, relentless percussion. " - Dennis Sebayan

Harry "Choo Choo" Romero - Corruption - Subliminal

"Choo Choo takes it the darker route with this, one of the biggest club tracks out right now. Taken off the forthcoming album from Romero called Thatbeat, "Corruption" features vocals written and performed by T. Deva. The main mix will work the crowd with its aggressive beats, rolling drums and sultry, provocative lyrics. This track has an interesting contrast; as it is ultra-modern sounding, while retaining a slight retro/eighties feel. Expect a big response on the dancefloor from this cut. The dub on the flip is more of a SAW-esque tribal workout, with subtle, eerie, high-pitched hold synths and funky carnival guitar riffs. " - Dennis Sebayan

Gregory Del Piero - Don't Hesitate - Subliminal Soul

"Ok. If you're going to listen to Subliminal Soul's latest grooves, this is what I recommend: pull the chilled glasses out of the freezer, pour your favorite frozen tropical drink, sit back, smoke a spliff, take a sip, press play, then go make love. Subliminal Soul offers single and alternate mixes that are packed to the brim with good vibes-perfect for your end of summer sets outdoors, or to bring the party indoors for autumn. The original mix features a Balearic guitar riff in all its glory, and a soulful male vocal singing, "Don't Hesitate." The top pick here though is the "A La Wep" mix, which is more of a minimal house excursion with deep tech elements. This gem of a track features shuffly electro synths, very warm tribal congas and a "Riders of the Storm" bassline. Quality! " - Dennis Sebayan

Elek Drums - The First Experience - Garbage

"This label is on a roll as of late. UDG's "Give Me Fierce" has been an Atlanta underground classic over the past few months, and the new one from this label delivers again, with tribal guns firing. The RPO Part 2 Mix is the one to watch for here. It combines the tribal sound that is so hot at the moment with a techy edge that makes this track stand out from the rest. As "The First Experience" progresses the energy builds with each new layer that is added: a kickin beat, rhythmic congas, a wicked bassline, and a tweaked out tech squeal. After a long breakdown this squeal grows in intensity until the beat drops back in with a vengeance. Let the madness ensue! " - Brett Abramson

Eddie Amador - Psycho X Girlfriend (PQM Remixes) - Yoshitoshi

"PQM knows how to take a track and have lots of fun with it. He's remixed Sara McLachlan, Orgy, Jimmy Page & Robert Plant. He's collaborated with John Creamer for the cha cha hard tribal house floorfiller, "Fuck Sonnet". On his remixes of Eddie Amador's cheeky hardbag ditty, "Psycho X Girlfriend," PQM takes the stripped down route, offering the notoriously funny vocal in two variations. On PQM's mix entitled, "Whining Hoe Pass", we have the full-on bitch monologue in all its glory during the breakdown, laced over a druggy, laid back guitar riff. PQM does a wonderful job with the "Working the Crowd Dub", which features different looped variations of "He's working the crowd" over beats, bass and some minimal electronics. A treat to mix with, this will definitely woo the crowd to hysterics. " - Dennis Sebayan

Eddie Amador - Psycho X Girlfriend - Yoshitoshi Records

"Amador gets freaky and pulls the haunches tight for this humorous, hard-bag house banger with a hysterical female vocal that talks about how a DJ's ex-girlfriend walks into the booth during one of his sets. Pure camphouse, this funky as heck delight features aggressive, delaying and shuffly percussion. To top it off, a techy organ stab lands to wreak even more havoc on the dancefloor. If there was ever dance music with attitude, this is it. With support from Timo, Danny T and Danny Howells, it's no wonder PQM's signed to do the remix! " - Dennis Sebayan

Earth Dueley Presents Kito Kala - Polythene/Meta 4 - Addictive

"Earth Dueley represents Georgia to the fullest with this new release on Addictive. After hearing other productions from Earth on top-notch labels such as Hellpass and Low Pressings, I can easily say that this is his best work to date. Both sides contain tight, minimal grooves that draw the listener in without becoming boring in the least. "Polythene" is a quality cut that exudes a solid, tribal feel, but does not pigeonhole itself into the clichéd tribal sounds that many records seem to fall prey to nowadays. "Meta 4," on the flip, has more of a deep-tech feel, yet again does not limit itself to just that sound. Whether you are building up the sound early on in a set, or maintaining a minimal, eerie groove throughout, these tracks are sure to work on the floor. " - Brett Abramson

Earth Dueley - Four Dimensions - Low Pressings

"*The backside, "Four Dimensions", starts with a solid house beat, before a synth line starts to build. Driven by a slurring bassline, we get a little deeper feel on this one, with enough funk to draw you in further. The tracky percussion here really builds until the breakdown, where a vocal gives us the name. The breakdown is just the way I like, short, and then it's full on house till the end. This is truly a cross-genre sound and should fit into any house DJ's taste, from deep to progressive, big room to small. " - Wes McGee

Earth Dueley - Decomposition - Low Pressings

"The second release by Georgia native Earth Dueley on Low Pressings shows us again that less can be more. "Decomposition" has already been licensed to Peace Division's new compilation, Nite Life 10 on NRK. The track starts out with a solid, tribal feel, with tight kicks and enough of a chugging feel to get things moving. With a simple vocal and a bassline, this track fits well in a warmup for bigger sounds, or right in the middle of a solid tribal set. " - Wes McGee

DJ Garth & Markie Mark - Anthem #1 - Grayhound

"This is one of Grayhound's best releases to date. With two standout cuts, "Anthem #1" and "The Book," this record will be sure to please any house aficionado. "Anthem #1" has a spaced out tribal funk that you can get lost in. Echoed guitar stabs build with soulful male vocals from Darryl Pandy that will work the floor right. The real gem of this record though comes on the outside cut of the b-side; "The Book" uses the same guitar sample as "Anthem #1," but adds more of a twisted funk this time around. A techier bassline and kick make this track drive forward. Keep your eyes peeled, as the newest release from Grayhound delivers a heavy dose of the Wicked Crew flavor. " - Brett Abramson

Da Junkies - Fab Planet - Remote

"Da Junkies deliver energetic, tribal funk with which Remote Records has become synonymous. Although there is a somewhat disappointing remix from the ultra hot Saeed and Palash, the real gem of this record is in the original mix. This track is all about the bassline that keeps the beat driving. An enigmatic voice enters over the breakdown, talking of parties, steam baths, slave auctions and drugs. But before you can even question the oddness of the sample, here comes that bassline again! A great cut to build up your set " - Brett Abramson

Blake - Saturday Night Remixes - Ideal

"Hot diggity! This track seems to get better with every remix. Just like the original and the remix on 66 Degrees, this one's pretty hot. If you're lookin' for that smooth, seductive, disco track without the cheese, you've found it. The Pearson/Usher mixes are in there. The vocal has a minimal, sampled chorus that cuts in and out and a great melody. The inside dub can even stand alone, with minimal percussion to add. It's deep and tracky with all the key ingredients. This will make the ladies move.

Joshua chooses his trademark blend of West Coast/Chicago house on his remix. This one is more on the swingin' Chicago side with a techy edge. Quirky, DC-style synth stabs and a vocal sample take the song in a different direction. It's a minimal, techy chugger, while the vocal keeps it melodic. Track two supplies just the beats, if you want to layer it with the original or just get crazy with acappellas. If you know Iz, then you know what he is capable of-a flawless mixer with production skills to match." - Daniel Gresham

ADNY - ADNY EP - Soco Audio

"Atlanta based label Soco Audio hits us with their third release, and once again do not disappoint. The artist, multi-talented DJ/ Producer Alexi Delano, produces two new tracks along with a remix of Eddie Richards "Someday" off of Soco 002. The first trac" - Mychal McCurdy
