  SX-01 "Section-Q"
by Shannon Petrick

SX-01 (aka Francisco Pieras) was born to generate tracks. He's had his hands on keyboards and drum machines longer than anyone else I know it Atlanta. Now with "Section-Q," his first release on the label Low-Technique, music-lovers all over the world can hear the creativity and imagination that SX-01 fans have always known.

The B-side presents the "Section-Q" Kaimera vs. The Stone's illogical remix. This is a remix created by two more Atlanta favorites, Gene Carbonell and Brad Harper, whose credits include Bradley, Darkdriver, Echo and Red Shift. Their tracks have been included on Dave Seaman's Global Underground (Buenos Aires), Sandra Collins' Tranceport 3 and Trance Global Nation 4.

SIDE A: Section-Q Original Mix: "Section-Q" begins with simple drumbeats. Soon you hear the SX-01 trademark futuristic sounds emerging. The track's structure is wave-like, with simple breaks moving into more intense interludes. The beauty of this track is that it takes subtle twists and turns creating an unpredictable atmosphere (a rarity these days). For instance, towards the end, there is a point where it sounds like a different track altogether! And yet somehow SX-01's intelligent transitional phases brings the contrasting sounds together smoothly.

Mysterious, sensual and suspenseful, "Section-Q" is just one of those tracks you can't afford to miss.

SIDE B: Section-Q Kaimera vs. The Stone's illogical remix: The remix definitely starts out more subdued. The substance of the track is brought in by the vocal, "Section-Q" (hmm...does that voice sound familiar?) Whereas the Original Mix was more driving and aggressive, the illogical remix is much more tranquil. The beat and melody stay steady and dark with Quivver-esque (think: his remix of "Boomerang") sounds interwoven throughout. Very nice remix...something we've come to expect from Gene and Brad.

SX-01 is one of those rare innovative producers we have today. Make sure you pick this one up!

"Section-Q" has been charted by Satoshi Tomiie and Hector Romero of Saw Recordings.
