Liquified pres. John Digweed & Luke Fair 04.02.2005

It was rumored that the Fabric tour was a showcase for the up-and-comer Luke Fair. Combined with a flight delay for John Digweed, Luke did stay on the decks past 12.30 a.m. He managed that time pretty well, with steady mixes and solid programming. The sound ranged from the latest offering Superpitcher, as well as treatment of the classic "Last Night A DJ Saved My Life." The tempo built evenly and peaked around midnight, nearly upstaging the (late-appearing) John Digweed.
As for the "Digger" himself, perhaps not the best Atlanta appearance by the talented producer/DJ, he still managed to bang out enough big tunes to keep the packed floor happy and dancing. With the late start and the early closing times, things did feel a little rushed and track selection raised a few lost eyebrows, but the strong turnout and the sweaty dancing bodies smoothed over the minor annoyances. Sure more time would've been fantastic, but 3 a.m. is a fact of (night)life these days, and abridged Digweed is better than no Digweed at all.
You know it's a good night of music when the principle gripe is the time (or lack of it). Besides, there's no question that Liquified will bring John back, for another night to remember.
