Jonathan Lisle 08.12.2004
Venue: Lava
Jonathan Lisle made a return visit, courtesy of Corey Allison, Seks and I.A.G. on August 12th. The Thursday night affair took place at Lava, with local support from Habersham (Damon Foonooni) and Corey himself. It has been a long time since Lisle's last appearance at eleven50, opening for Steve Lawler. And to this date, that Atlanta set, as well as his other live sets online, are a constant source of discussion, debate and often disagreement. Anticipation were high, as are the expectations.
However, the limited promotion (announced only 10 days prior) brought out a limited crowd, but it doesn't take capacity for the Lava dancefloor to brim with dancers and a certain intimate energy. Besides, all the in-the-know people were present, including a few visitors from as far away as Charlotte. It didn't take too long for the DJs, the alcohol and the driving beats to keep bodies moving and conversation flowing in the tiny basement.
Overall, satisfactory sets from all three DJs. Habersham and Corey ran the breakbeats proper. Although there are some criticism as Lisle rotated through a few rather epic progressive tunesthe upcoming "Fever" on Bedrock, e.g., there were more than enough goodies ("Time") to retain the majority of the floor until 3 a.m. and then some.
