Fountainhead Lounge 7.17.99
by Shannon Petrick
Venue: Fountainhead Lounge - Atlanta, GA
I always get excited when I go to a club I've never been to before and I
know I'm going to hear good music. It's like exploring an uncharted
territory. This was the case when I went to the Fountainhead Lounge in the
East Atlanta Village on July 17. What a cool place! All the beautiful
people...dancing to the beautiful music of DJ Gabriel.
The Fountainhead Lounge is great because the decorations are very
mood-enhancing and ecclectic. Once you enter, you immediately feel at ease.
There is a bar that stretches across the majority of the bottom level. The
top level consits of chairs, tables, couches and the DJ booth (will, it's
not really a booth, it's a DJ balconey if you go, you'll see what I mean).
While the DJ plays, the Fountainhead provides its customers with a big movie
screen that plays the strangest of the strange films.
Friday and Saturday nights are the time to go, for Gabriel spins. This DJ
has been a longtime Atlanta favorite and it's easy to see why. He has so
much talent it's unbelievable. He's been spinning for many years and can
play any genre of electronic music out there. Not only that but whatever he
feels like playing, it's good. On July 17, I heard him play everything from
dark jungle tracks to a trance remix of a Garbage song. I cannot describe
the experience you feel when you sink into the couches there and listen to
Gabriel's music. As his name implies, he is an angel.
