If you enjoy soul, progressive breaks and a little bit of funk, you better get to the store and check our DJ Colette's CD entitled Our Day. For those of you that have never had the pleasure of experiencing her before, Collette is one bad ass chica-mixing up strong, fluid sets laced with her own melodic voice and poetic lyrics. The CD begins by pulling you in with the relaxing sounds of a rainstorm, while she sings over with a passionate, throaty voice. Even though some tracks become redundant, Collette's performance makes all the difference. In a scene where repetition is a long running theme, Colette is a breath of fresh air, as she personalizes each set with both beautifully sung and well-written lyrics. She has such power and presence on the CD that I cannot even imagine how strong her live set would be. What I do know is that I will be front and center when she comes to town, ready for her to move me inside and out.
