by Chris "Smurf" Limina

Chris Limina I had a great time this year at Ultra. It was my very first time in Miami. I really wanted to go for the past few years but couldn't because of money issues. This year I made sure I had the money. My favorite sets were Ferry Corsten and Carl Cox. When Ferry dropped "Rock Your Body Rock" my whole crew was going crazy. The turnout was superb and the general vibe of the attendees was very positive.

Many of the negative things I have herd about Ultra seemed to be patched up this year. The main problem that seems to have been rectified was the issue with water prices. Water prices were $5 in the booths. They also had "body wash" areas with water hoses all around the park. The fact that I could refill my water bottle without having to pay was a definite plus. I would also like to give props to Rabbit in the Moon's booth for selling water at $2 against the organizers will.

Some of the things I did not like about Ultra were the inconsistencies with what you could bring in, the extreme heat in the Carl Cox & Friends tent, and the obscenely long line at the after party. It seemed like the people who came to Ultra earlier in the day were not allowed to bring in cameras, glow sticks, and unopened cigarette packs. When I showed up around 3 p.m., they didn't seem to care about my unopened cigarette pack or my friend's digital camera.

In conclusion, I had a great time. My friends and I were very pleased with the experience. All of us are definitely planning on going next year.
